The Islander 230 is a “NEW” FRP (fibreglass) diesel powered motor skiff,
designed and “hand crafted” by Craig Pelley of Pelley Marine as an economically
operated and sea friendly alternative to the high powered modern “speed boat”.
An attempted nod to the traditional Newfoundland motor boat look was at the
heart of the styling but with a more modern and efficient approach to lines.
The fine entry bow lines minimize resistance and reduce slamming while the
moderate dead rise hard chine hull form maintains good efficient cruising
speeds and excellent initial stability. Keeping the overall beam to a practical
minimum also contributed to comfortable sea keeping as well as overall cursing
