    I cannot verify this but, based on some research, I believe the instrument to be a Trichinoscope (trichinen microscope) and therefore of interest to collectors because it's function in science is now obsolete. According to the instrument metal housing stamp, it was manufactured by Franz Schmidt & Haensch of Berlin, Germany.
