Do you remember when we used to make stuff in Canada? I do, but barely.
Of course, there are still a few things that are made here, but the days of
consumer goods sporting a "Made in Canada" label are mostly gone. And the few
footwear manufacturers still producing in this country tend to be very high-end
custom-order outfits like Viberg and Dayton.
Well, here's an opportunity to slip into a very nice pair of vintage Jarman
Benchmark Apron Loafers for less than a pair of Chinese shoes from the Avalon
Mall. These elegant shoes feature a leather sole and a half-leather lining
along with a cushion tread rubber heel.
These sold for north of $200 before taxes back-in-the-day. Put 'em on your
feet for under a C-note!
OR put them on the feet of a loved one: these would make an AWESOME Father's
Day gift!

Sadly, there are no longer any Canadian manufacturers of high-end men’s shoes
in business. Gone are John McHale, Hartt, Dack’s and a handful of lesser
makers. And the USA has only two such survivors: Allen Edmonds and Alden.
Available now is this lovely pair of Allen Edmonds "Westchester" model in
Black Calf. They’re a classic Penny-loafer design, with full leather linings
and a Goodyear-welted oak leather sole. A rubber Topy has been professionally
applied to the sole to help protect the sole and add more traction in our wet
and slippery city!
The shoes are in excellent condition with slight damage – salt? – to the toe
of the right shoe. The flaw is barely visible thanks to the black colour.
These shoes sold for US$345 (C$457.72). Put ‘em on your feet for about 17.5%
of new!
Shoe trees NOT included.
The price is firm and if you see this ad, the shoes are still available...
