located in the West End. We care for children ages 18 months to 12 years of age
and are currently hiring Trainee - Level 4 Early Childhood Educators.
Applicants must possess a genuine passion for working with children, must be
enthusiastic, reliable, and have excellent communication skills. Applicants
must also be able to create and maintain a successful learning environment and
demonstrate compassion, mindfulness and empathy when interacting with children.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
•Develop and implement childcare programs based on our centre philosophy,
promoting the physical, emotional, cognitive and social development of children.
•Lead activities through storytelling, teaching songs and providing
opportunities for creative expression through art, dramatic play, music and
•Utilize positive guidance techniques.
•Plan for and maintain both indoor and outdoor environments that ensure the
health, security and well being of children.
•Assess the abilities, interests and needs of children through daily written
and visual observations. and discuss progress or problems with supervisors,
parents and other staff members when required.

ensuring that each child reaches their potential
•AECENL Certification (Trainee to Level 4) with the willingness to upgrade to
meet government requirements (Trainee Level)

Event Host (Part-Time – Evenings/Weekends) – The Lantern
The Event Host helps The Lantern stay open for programs and events outside of
normal business hours. The position is responsible for supervising the front
desk, welcoming program facilitators and participants, monitoring facility
usage, and assisting with client requests.
The Event Host is the main point of contact for clients and program
participants while on duty. This primarily involves welcoming clients and
guests to The Lantern, directing them to their respective meeting rooms, and
ensuring they have everything they need for the duration of their stay. This
position is also responsible for the facility, dealing with any issues as they
arise, ensuring heat and lights are on/off, and the security system is set up
on exit. On occasion, the Event Host may be requested to assist with setting up
for events, ongoing event support, and tear-down.
This position primarily occupies desk space in an office environment; however,
the Event Host is also required to navigate stairs while on duty, and light
lifting may be required. Working hours for the position vary and typically
occur in 4-5hr shifts during weekday evenings (anytime between 5pm and 10pm)
and on weekends (anytime between 8am and 11pm).
