St. Luke’s Church was designated a Registered Heritage Structure by the
Heritage Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador in 2011 due to its aesthetic
and historic value. St. Luke’s has aesthetic value as it is a good example of
an outport Gothic Revival church. It measures 54’ x 32’ and the steeply pitched
gable roof tapering to a low pitched roof adds dimension to this modest,
pristine building. The pointed arch windows are fixed, multi-paned and have
clear glass, except for one stained glass window above the altar. This window
was commissioned in memory of church members who died in World War I. The main
entrance is located in a peaked roof porch on the right gable end. A tower was
added to the rear façade in the mid 1900s. Materials from this church,
particularly wide hemlock boards from England, were salvaged and used in the
construction of the present-day St. Luke’s.

Over the past few months I've been restoring this old lathe. It is the first
piece of equipment in a repair shop I'm intending to build from salvaged tools
& materials. I suspect that given the current situation there will probably be
a lot of spring cleaning & reorganizing done & I'm hoping it will unearth some
old tools that people may be hanging on to that they may not have a use for,
but feel that they are too good to throw away. i am interested in anything &
everything that may be useful even rusted & broken equipment such as lathe &
milling machine accessories, large drill bits, measuring & layout tools, vices,
cabinets etc. I am also in the process of building a small foundry for aluminum
brass & copper & would be interested in anything related to metal casting such
as fire bricks, refactory, old welding leathers, paving stones & an old metal
garden shed, which given the snow we had this winter I'm guessing there are a
few around that probably collapsed & that someone may be looking to get rid of.
if you think you have something that could help me out, i would greatly
appreciate it. Please contact me with what you have & what you want for it.
