The Canadian Red Cross (CRC) seeks to prevent and alleviate human suffering in Canada and around the world by responding to disasters, building safer, more resilient communities, and educating future humanitarians. Within Canada there remains significant parts of the country with little to no geospatial information is available. Using the Missing Maps methodology, the CRC aims to engage and map remote and vulnerable communities within Canada to better respond to crises affecting the area with more detailed maps and data. The CRC is seeking a pool of Mapping Volunteers to support a variety of GIS needs and activities. Reporting to the GIS Coordinator, the Mapping Volunteers will be responsible for supporting and hosting mapathons in support of the Missing Maps project, improving the quality of crowd-sourced geographic data, and may be asked to create basic mapping products to support emergency response activities when necessary. During emergency operations, volunteers may be embedded into provincial response structures and report to the Information Management Supervisor. Volunteers who do not wish to deploy in person or remotely may be requested to backfill other operational information management staff as required. Wanted, Part time / Casual truck driving work. (Transport Truck) I am a Journeyman Automotive Mechanic but I also have a Class One driver’s license with 9 and 9A endorsements. I graduated from Canadian Training Institute in Bay Roberts in 2013 and earned a Diploma in Commercial Transport. I am a drug free, “By the book” driver with a completely clean drivers abstract and just had my medical completed this year for DMV. I have great respect for people’s equipment. My mechanical background and past driving experience has given me great respect for these trucks. I have experience hauling Sea Cans (Expandable Chassis), dry vans, High beds and shingle racks. I have experience with Eaton 10 Speed, Super 10, 13 and 18 speed transmissions. I also have experience with the Mack “M Drive” automatic transmission. I do have experience in winter driving in Newfoundland. A Full time truck driving job did not work out for me because of the amount of time I was away from home, but I truly did love driving the trucks. I put my family first and I currently have a full time Monday to Friday Mechanics job which I am happy with and don’t intend to change, but I find myself missing driving. So, what I am looking for is to meet a company, an owner operator, etc; Someone that may have a load here and there on a weekend that they need covered. Someone who I can call when I have free time to see if they have anything they need delivered. I’m not looking for a full time job. This all being said, I would certainly prefer “Pin to Pin” loads (transfers, etc.). I enjoy highway driving, but given the time frame I have to work with (weekends) it would have to be on the Island of Newfoundland. I also would prefer to operate a truck with a Manual shift gear box to help keep my shifting skills sharp. I appreciate you taking the time to view my Ad. Please send me an e-mail and I can forward my resume, diploma and any other required information to you. Thank You

I’m a 38 year old male, I have about 15 years experience in the automotive field (10 of those years were with GM in Alberta). I have teaching experience, I am a computer programmer by trade and I have been able to do just about anything that I’ve been asked to do.... except find a decent job since returning to Newfoundland. I’m open to just any job that involves a reliable income. If you have a job that you may need done, PLEASE shoot me an email! If you’ve seen the movie “Dirty Work”, I’m open to that too! (No, it’s not an x rated movie lol)
