This is a Canadian-made Singer Sewing Machine made between 1924 and 1936 in St. John’s, Quebec – just south of Montreal – and better known today as Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. This example has Serial number JA532963. The JA-prefixed serial numbers ran from 1924 to 1936 (when they switched to JB). If we presume the switch to JB was necessitated due to having run out of 6-digit numbers (i.e. 999999) and further assume a roughly even production per year (which may not be true, but at least annual production did not likely slow over the period), then we are led to likely dates of, say, 1931 to 1936 for this particular machine. There were a great many of these machines produced and it is still possible to find them in good running condition today. I'm confident the right person could make this unit work again, but it is being sold "as is" for parts or repair. IF YOU SEE THIS AD, IT'S AVAILABLE AND THE PRICE IS FIRM.
