I'm an experienced, independent/freelance Respite Worker (I am not an agency worker) living and working in St. John's, and its suburbs, CBS, and Holyrood. Compassionate, caring, and reliable, I am a professional 'experienced with "Neuro-Diverse", exceptionally challenging children, and adults with: ASD, ADHD, OCD, behavioural challenges, anger, and impulse control issues. I've completed ABA (Applied Behavioural Analysis), and CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention, Non-Violent, Crisis Intervention training), and I have extensive experience caring for children and adults with developmental delays, anger/impulse control issues, brain injuries, and social and economic challenges. I have experience working with children (in care), and I've aided children and adults, independently, for Eastern Health-funded, clients as a "Self Directed Babysitter", Respite Worker, and ABA Therapist. Additionally I have experience working with school age children for the YWCA (many years), and, I've worked with 'teens/youth with complex mental needs' for Choices For Youth. As well, I have private experience teaching drums, and creative music making to pre-school children. I have great compassion for my clients, and in caring for them I emphasize relationship building, and working to address their primary concerns at their personal, specific level of need, at their pace and speed, and with focus on their interests and activity. I work closely with parents, and various agencies and community players in an effort to obtain the very best care, resources, and quality of life for my clients.
