Hunting Guide
If you love hunting and the outdoors, meeting interesting and new people and
working in the field this job might be for you. Sou’wester Outfitting is
seeking a hunting guide for our upcoming hunting season. The position is
temporary from September 11th - October 18th (inclusive). With possibility of
continuing annually from September to mid October. The place of work is
interior Newfoundland between the area of Grand Lake and Red Indian Lake. All
guides will travel via plane to access the remote hunting destinations.
Boarding and all meals will be provided.
Sou’wester is one of Newfoundland’s longest standing Outfitting operations and
runs three remote fly-in lodges on the island of Newfoundland and offers fully
guided single or combination hunts for moose, Woodland Caribou and black bear
for the big game hunting enthusiast.
Certifications
-Newfoundland and Labrador’s Guide License. If the hunter does not possess a
guide certificate we can provide guidance and instruction to acquire one.
Specific Skills and Job Duties
-Provide outdoor, wilderness and wildlife instruction and plan hunting trips
with guests
-Familiarity with provincial hunting guidelines and legislation
-Advise guests on specific regulations such as hunting and fishing laws and
boating regulations, follow environmental guidelines and prevent violations
-Operate and maintain firearms safely and coach hunters on safe firearm
practices
-Navigate remote areas with map/compass/GPS
